Threestrand Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 8, 2026 (Version 2.1)

Threestrand was previously named Anchor. This document applies to the app under either name.

Welcome to Threestrand. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the app.

Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Threestrand, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Threestrand.

What Threestrand Is

Threestrand is a digital wellness app designed to help you reduce phone addiction by:

Threestrand is a tool to support your digital wellness journey. It is not a medical device, therapy, or treatment for addiction.

Intended Use & Abuse Prevention

Threestrand Is For Voluntary Accountability

Threestrand is designed for voluntary, consensual accountability between adults who choose to support each other, and for families, where a parent or guardian and their teen use Threestrand together, openly.

Prohibited Uses

This app must NOT be used to:

Your Right to Leave

Any adult may disconnect from a partner or leave a family at any time, for any reason, without the other person's permission. This is by design. We cannot and will not prevent it.

A teen in a family leaves through their parent or guardian, because the family is how the parent takes part. A teen can still always uninstall Threestrand, and nobody can prevent that; the family is told the app went quiet.

If You Are Being Coerced

If you are being forced to use this app against your will, or if someone is using it to control you:

We take abuse seriously. If we become aware that Threestrand is being used for coercive control, we reserve the right to terminate the abuser's account.

Eligibility

Adults (18 and older) may use Threestrand on their own, with partners, or in a family.

Teens (13 to 17) may use Threestrand only as a member of a family on Threestrand that includes their parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian:

Children under 13 may not use Threestrand. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we will delete it.

By using Threestrand, you represent that:

Your Account

Account Creation

You can start using Threestrand on your own without an account. Partners and families need an account, which you create with an email address and password. Teens need an account, because a teen always uses Threestrand inside a family.

Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

Accountability Partnerships

How It Works

You can connect with one or more accountability partners. When connected:

Mutual Consent

By entering a partner's code and completing the connection, you confirm that:

Disconnecting

Either adult partner may disconnect at any time by going to Settings and removing the partnership. Disconnecting:

We do not notify the other partner of the reason for disconnection.

Families

A family on Threestrand is a household: one or two adults, and optionally their teens.

Safety Features

Certain features cannot be disabled to ensure your safety:

Always Accessible

The following are always accessible, even when blocking or family time is on:

Boot Grace Period

If enabled, blocking is paused for 60 seconds after your phone restarts. This ensures you can always access Settings if something goes wrong.

Solo Mode

If you don't have an accountability partner, you can use Threestrand in "Solo Mode":
